Horn sounds pathetic any ideas

The horn on a Bandit is pathetic, I could get more noise out of sick mouse.
Has anybody got any ideas how to beef up the horn. ie, could I use a horn from a wrecked car, maybe use the horn from another model (wreckers), would it stuff up the electrical system
I have to have more noise when cars get in my way.

I know a bloke who fitted air horns to a CB250, used to scare the crap out tin top drivers when he rode up beside them and pressed the button...

The Fiamm Magnum Blaster horns are generally regarded as the best electric (non-air) horns available.  You can mount two of them (high and low tones) and get a pretty good punch out of them.  

Here's an installation page for an FJR.  Similar techniques work fine on the Bandit.

The horns are available at most well-stocked auto places and several mail-order shops.  

Air horns are the be-all and end-all of high volume, but they're a bit of pain, between mounting the compressor and routing hoses and such.  

It's unlikely that you will exceed the capacity of your circuit with any horn, and the generally short duration of use (unless you tape down the button) won't affect battery charging.

Hey I got one too!!!!!  We should work up an installation thread - looks like it'll fit nicely inside the front fairing of a 2G-1200.  Haven't started tearing things apart yet but the fairing bracket looks like a good mounting point.

BTW... I tried out in the garage - intense doesn't adequately describe it.  :beers:

I haven't figured out where I'm going to mount it yet, but the faiting bracket sounds like a very good idea. I'll probably connect it in addition to the OEM horn for even more kick. My goal is to hurt them - otherwise they  don't react :(.

I agree we should start a thread, whoever gets on to install it first or even before that.

Or grab a 60's electric car horn, there is an adjustment on the back.
Over here GMH holdens of the 60's had them, and you can adjust them for higher or lower tone, and out from a car bonnet they are loud.
I did on my HD, and when I let it rip it sounded like a mack truck air horn. They can be hidden under the tank with a simple bracket tied up to the rear mounting point for the fairing.

Now when you say HD do you mean a Hardly Dangerous or a Holden Downfall.....either way the horn would have been the best part :banana:  :banana:

2005 Bandit 1200, Modified Holeshot Stage 1 with 17.5 pilots 2.75 turns out, and 110 mains 5 shims. Muzzy Slip on w/mid-pipe, stock filter. 1.5" hole in the airbox lid.
