chain adjuster lock nuts
« on: September 10, 2007, 03:43:25 PM »
Howdy all, I have a 03 b12 and needed to tighten my chain, problem being that the lock nut on the the adjuster is stripped. Ive done this a couple times and the metal seems so soft. My question is if I remove the rear wheel and will the tensioning assembly screw out of the swing arm? Im thinking if I can get a socket on them they will come out and I can order the bolt and nuts. Any ideas?

Yes, you can slide the axle out and remove the nut and bolt. You can probably find something to work at the hardware or auto parts store, assuming the actual nut is stripped and not the threads in the swingarm.

OK, lucked out and my local dealer parts people had the nuts and yes the bolt does come all the way out. The newer nuts (newer than 03) are same thread but a 13mm instead of 12, must have been a problem. :congrats:
