i guess my system of checking speed when i go under streetlights will have to suffice for a while..

check the grey wire in that nest.. there should be several, one from each of the gauges and from the indicators. Suzuki for some reason put something like 5 wires into one butt connector.

grey wires

i got in there and did some testing with the grey wires and grounds..
there's some weird shit going on up there!

it's really strange, i can get the fuel gauge light to come on my jumping the ground direct to the frame and jumping the grey wire direcly to the blue connector in the fairing.. but only the fuel gauge light..

then, if i jump one of the grey wires from either the speedo or tach directly to the blue connector and the ground to the frame, i can get both the speedo and tach to light up.. but not the fuel gauge..

seems stupid to have run them separate.. i guess if it comes down to it, i'll just end up running a bunch of jump wires and call it a day..

my b12 did the same, about 6 inches up the harness from the connector I found that the infamous gray wire had basically rotted away!  cut out the bad area and soldered in new wires, problem solved.
