I just added two to the rear only.  It already has good torque, but I wanted just a tad more.  Adding two to the rear did the trick.  I also didn't want high rpm's while cruising.  BTW, if you feel the need to keep adding/subtracting sprockets to get more, then maybe you need to upgrade to a 1216.

From what I have read adding 3 to the rear rather then dropping 1 from the front provides better geometry more load to the rear wheel, where as dropping 1 from the front although achieving the same as far as ratio, put more load stress and ware on the chain. But hell that probably true for racing not GP riding.
