Author Topic: Under frame exhaust.... (Read 4968 times)

I'm building YASF (Yet another Street fighter).

I'm looking to move the exhaust canister under the frame. Basically sticking as small a can as possible directly to the headers without a midpipe.

1) Does anyone have any idea for a short and thin (small diameter) CF exhaust canister?

2) Has anyone done this? I'm looking for something similar to this pic:

I was thinking about using a Two Brothers M-2 canister (3.75 inches in diameter). Any ideas?

there was one on ebay last week that had one. It was a bandit 1200 with NOS. I think it was a 1g.

Thanks for the responses...The megaphone is a little big for my taste, although I'm getting the feeling it's an easier mod that I originally thought.

Out of curiosity, and since I'm an absolute chimpanzee

when it comes to engine stuff... what sort of effect will this have on jetting, etc? obviously the exhaust is shorter - is it dangerous to the engine prior to re-jetting, or does it just make things rough.

I have a high mount exhaust (Renegade) on there now. Any more info or opinions are appreciated.

That pipe is only for drag racing anyways. From what I have read on stubby pipes is that they add a bit more mid-range and take a bit from the top

Cool I like what we are here talking bout. I too am looking for some kind of pipe for my bike that stops right behind the foot peg. I have seen one I like but I don't think it will work on the Bandit. This is what I would like.

But this is a full open pipe. And from what I hear a full open pipe does not work well on a Suzuki. The Eng. needs some back presser. Does anyone know if there is a pipe that have's some kind of back presser? Any help with be nice

Okay, FastGTOS, how about this one:

from fmfracing.com. I think it's for a GSXR600/750. This one incorporates a muffler (under the frame) with a GP style exhaust tip that comes out near the swing arm.

No idea how it would fit a bandit, and if the muffler would clear the frame. I'd need to get some dimensions.

I sort of like the idea of this as well, but it would be expensive just to order and "try it out".

I'm still looking for a short, narrow cf exhaust.

Thanks Daytona. And Thank you as well Red for the info on the pic. So being what Daytona said Does anyone know off hand what size the back of the header is on a 04 1200? I'm asking before I pull mine off and check myself.
