Okay guys, if you remember a while back i had a problem with my 99 600 bandit with the needle on the carb getting stuck open and allowing the fuel to drain into the engine and overflow and all of that. i just want to make sure i got everything figured out right to be able to ride soon.. THE WEATHER IS GETTING WARM YAY!!! anyway... the Fuel Cock doesn't drip fuel anymore, for some reason it just stopped. I changed the oil and oil filter. (there was a lot of gas in it). Tomorrow i will be going and buying new spark plugs (don't know what kind to buy any suggestions would be helpful) and a K&N air filter. If there is anything else i should do to it before riding let me know.
Also another question.. when i pulled the tank off i didn't realize there was a hose that isn't connected to anything.. or at least i dont think it was... what does this hose do and where does it go... i just want to make sure i put it back in the right spot. Thanks in advance

That would be the tank vent hose or the drain hose from the filler scupper. Just route it to where the other vent & drain hoses go, near the front of the swingarm.

thanks red... you've really been a help to me... i'm also looking into buying a jet kit.. i'm looking at a holeshot stage 1.. with yoshimura rs-3 exhaust

I expect that bike's the same as the early B12. If so, the drain plug for the air box is capped at the bottom. The expectation is that you only need to drain crud once a year or so. Just in case you haven't fixed it, it would be cheap insurance to keep the plug cap off so that gas will drain through it and not into your engine while running. You'll notice the leak when you slide through a corner on gassed tires like I used to in my old KZ650 days.

If you leave the cap off the air box drain, you'll be sucking some of the dirtiest air possible right into the engine since this hose drains the air box from the filtered side.

If you're getting enough gas into the air box to grease the rear tire with an open drain hose, you've got some problems that need fixin'!

Agreed on the first point but a good way to determine if the fix took without loading the airbox to the point where it flows into the head. I should have added that it be capped when the fix is verified. A little dirty air would be better than a lot of gassy oil.

im pretty sure i've got the problem fixed.. hasn't leaked any gas yet... I installed dale's jet kit... and am currently waiting for my exhaust... and in another thread i posted you can see that i'm having problems getting the throttle cables back on... any help on that would be appreciated

oh yeah and another thing... when i was installing the jet kit i noticed that my a/f screws were already drilled out...they were all adjusted differently on the amount of turns... one of them i think was even like 4 turns out.. is that a normal thing?

Mine were all adjusted differently by the factory. The furthest off was 3 turns to 3 3/4 turn. But if yours are already drilled out you should take a look inside, you wont be the first buyer of a used bike ti find a jet kit or shims already installed.

i checked all of that... still had 98's in 1 and 4 and 100's in 2 and 3... and no shims were installed... i don't know why they would have drilled them out...

It may have had a kit in it at one time and when the PO decided to sell, he sold his goodies separate.
