Loose connection? possibly at battery or solenoid.

Have you tried to start it with another battery? I've seen Batteries get to where they appear charged, but just will not hold up when the starter button is pressed.

Yeah, any battery that goes all the way dead can have problems. Try checking all of the connections first, then replace it.

The most likely reason for this to happen is the regulator/rectifier going south.
