Install of Double Bubble OEM Windscreen P/N 990a0-30000 $70
« on: December 20, 2007, 03:33:52 PM »
In order to avoid going through the agony of dismantling the entire fairing I had to pull out the dash console (4 screws) to access the windscreen fasteners. I was pulling my hair out cursing Suzuki for the new rubber backed fasteners they used which are hard to reach from behind the wind screen in order to stop them from spinning to remove the 4 securing screws. Once the 4 rubber backed fasteners holding the old wind screen were removed the new wind screen slid easily into place. In order to be able to re-tighten the the 4 screws and keep the 4 rubber backed fasteners from spinning, I had to glued them in place with some liquid nails in order to re-tighten the impossible to reach fasteners to hold tight the OEM Double Bubble securely. Performance wise I was not initially satisfied as wind blast was hitting my neck and face, however I recently discovered that there were two wind blast, one at the top of my helmet coming off the top of the wind screen and another wind blast coming from the slotted vent at the bottom into my face.  By plugging the windscreen vent slot at the bottom with clear heavy duty packing tape, the wind blast to may face was completely stopped. Below are a few photos of the new windscreen without the tape, later installed.

Hey Chief, finally got mine changed and I used plummers goop to seal those suckers in.
It would have taken maybe 15 minutes to change the shields if not for having to search for those rubber grommets for 45 minutes.

Although those little rubberized bolts are a pain I bet they are part of the fairing noise elimination Suzuki came up with as a cure to the rattle and racket of the privious Bandit model fairings. I'm still not satisfied with the Double Bubble screen and hope Zero Gravity comes out with another excellent touring screen for the new B1250.

Good color on your bike there.
Agree with noise reduction issue that is why I wanted to be sure to get them back in.
