Scorpion exhaust install 1250S
« on: July 12, 2008, 12:19:00 PM »
Pardon my ignorance, fellas. I'm thinking about ordering the Scorpion slip on for my 1250S, but I don't see how it "slips on." The exhaust can on my first gen Bandit 1200 simply unbolted above the mid-pipe. This generation seems to unbolt only below the mid-pipe. The Scorpion can doesn't come with a mid-pipe, however. What's the deal on install? Please don't tell me there's cutting and welding involved.  :annoy:

I'm pretty sure it does come with a mid-pipe for the 1250 , make sure you are getting the right one !

Scorpion slip-on for the Bandit 1250S comes with the mid pipe and welded center-stand bracket stop and all clamps. There is no cutting just unbolt old muffler and bolt on the Scorpion. Check out Pipecity.com, the price you see is the price you pay. No taxes or shipping charges.

Hey, the Scorpion can is waiting for me when I get home today!  I've heard mention of using some kind of sealant when making the install. What kind of sealant and what's it for?

I don't think there is anything to seal. The clamp should make a nice tight seal where the midpipe fits into the collector.

The Scorpion install was easy, even for the mechanically challenged (that's me). Everything fit perfectly and was easy to understand, until I got to the strap that connects to the footpeg. I ordered the oval can and suddenly realized they had sent me the round connector. Everything else is the same but that one piece. Now I have it all hooked up, but the final bracket is wrong. I emailed them and hopefully they'll FEDEX me the correct part overnight. Ah, well. It sounds great, but I'm reluctant to take it out on a test run with a bracket that doesn't hold it snug.

Ray Mooney,

Just curious where you purchased the Scorpion Slip-on? Glad to hear everything came together for you. Except the bracket of course.

Cheers! :beers:

A1A -- I ordered it from Pipecity.com on Monday, 14 July, and got it yesterday, 22 July. According to their website, if they have an item in stock, they can ship immediately (FEDEX ground), but if it's in their warehouse (off premises, I guess), then it takes a few days longer. I'm assuming they didn't have it in stock since they're in Arizona, just one state over from me here in San Diego, and it took over a week.

Ray,

I called them about two weeks ago about the Scorpion Round Slip-on. I was told they did not have the round in stock and it would probably be 2-3 weeks before they come into there warehouse. I'll wait until next month and try again. I want to try the round instead of the oval on the Bandit 1250S.
I had a quality slip-on oval Scorpion on my VStrom and really liked it a lot. Bought that Stainless Oval from them and was really happy with PipeCity.

Cheers!
