Tighten up throttle play on B1250?
« on: August 17, 2007, 12:21:44 PM »
The throttle on my 1250 has maybe 5 or 10 degrees of play in the rotation before activating the throttle bodies. Any way to tighten this up? Thanks

I haven't actually looked at the throttle on a WC 1250, but usually the cables have adjusters at the bar end. Just tighten them up.

Usually have them at the carb/throttle body end, too.

I have the same issue. Haven't torn into it yet but it seems to be the barrel that's loose (length and diameter) and not the cable. There's a older post over on MS that documents the problem and the solution.

If you were able to download the manual, it's on page 0B-12.

1.  Loosen the lock nut of the throttle pulling cable.  2.  Turn the adjuster in or out until the throttle cable play is between 2-4 mm.  3.  Tighten the lock nut while holding the adjuster.  There's also a warning to check that handlebar movement does not cause the engine to accelerate.

Very easy, takes less than 3 minutes.

I tried it at the bar end and got no real improvement . i removed the tank (real simple) and adjusted the cable end there. You need a 8 and 10 mm wrench. Teh  tank comes off esliy, Use pliears in the snap type hos clamps and the fuel line a a squeeze type fitting. You break the cable jam nut loose, Back it off remove the cable from the holder, Adjustthe lower jam not down adn reinstall. Check throttle and readjujst as necessary. i haev no throttle play now (dont care what suzuki says abdout play ites my bike)  Tehn use the bar end to fine tune.
