I can't see the Lane Splitting law (if it gets enacted) changing the way I ride in traffic.  After all it is technically illegal (in Queensland anyway) already.

And now we have the speed cameras keeping us safe - there are less police on the road to enforce things like this.

Ever notice how the incidence of driving while talking on a mobile has not really decreased since it was made illegal...

where is the research, which we have been demanding.

I'm sure I saw something in one of the Mags that showed that the Anti Lane Splitting law actually goes against research already done...I'll track it down and let you know.

I agree with what you're saying.  I'm lucky lane splitting is something you really don't have to do in sunny downtown Wagga Wagga, but yeah the times I've ridden in Melbourne it certainly keeps you away from the dicks in their cages.

Sorry mate but just about everything is illegal in the sunshine state ain't it?. Just the other day I was talking to the scooter adds people, who just happen to say how, they were having problems with add campains up there in Brisbane, with some silly old law, left over from the time of Joh, anymore than 3 motorbikes riding together is an illegal congregation. :duh:  Gee and us southerns thought Joh was dead
Phones oh NO. Just the other week I was sitting beside a cop in an 80 k zone, there he was having a loverly chat on the phone, I got the feeling he did not like my stubby remus can right beside his open window, I think it had made it hard for him to hear the other person    Just becuase I was going the legal 80, in second gear :stickpoke:   :bigok:

Ok, here we go, from Two Wheels 02/06

[quote]"...........Motorcycle Riders Association of Australia President, Dale Maggs, said the plan to ban lane-splitting whether traffic was moving or stationary was "totally at odds with all published research on the subject".

An MRAA statement said the benefits of motorcycles and scooters filtering through stationary and slow-moving traffic have been widely researched.  Mr Maggs cited Dr Marcus Wigan's study on "Powered Two Wheelers in Victoria" and the "Hurt Report" from the US - both of which found this practice offered increased safety for riders, if properly carried out.

Dr Wigan's report not only encouraged the practice, but recommened that it be facilitated by the introduction of advanced stop lines for motorcyclists - in a similar manner to those in use for bicycles.

"The recently published proposals appear to have been writted by someone with no knowledge of the subject and without any real research on the subject" Mr Maggs said......."

We (New Southwelshman) don't need to move to the sunny north, at the moment it's "Hot one day, and totally unbearable the next" down here....

Yep - I have heard the weather is pretty oppressive down south.

I certainly can't complain at all - it is a perfect  30 C day here on the Sunshine Coast.
