03-04 GSXR1000 shock....will it work?
« on: December 31, 2005, 04:31:52 PM »
I know this has been visited and revisited but here it goes...

There is a 03-04 GSXR1000 shock on ebay for $46 to my door.  Here is what I am thinking, please let me know if I am incorrect:

1) An 05 measures 12 3/4" so this shock should be anywhere between that and 13"

2) I can purchase lowering links to keep the rear hight the same.  (I'm planning on raising the forks in the trees to drop the front and quicken the steering, but at 5'6" want to keep it at the stock hight to lower)

3) This shock will have considerably more adjustment than stock and handle better.

Finally, how am I 100% sure the last owner didn't already change the rear shock?  Any tell tale markings or spring color?

Thanks!!

The other thing to consider is if the shock's physical dimensions will fit your bike. Some of the late model shocks will be fatter, or have reserviors that are in the way, or will require grinding to fit.

I don't recall off hand if this particualr one has been tried or not... but the search engine on the board is your friend.

I didn't see any info on the search specific to that year, but I'm thinking tried and true hay bus will be better for the bandit's heft anyway...was just trying to get away $20 cheeper.

 :thanks:
