** Just realized this is a bit of a repost... oh well! **
It happened again.
This is the second time I've been ~300mi into a new rear tire, and I get a big honkin' nail stuck in the tread.
Last time, I used the gooey-rope type plug, and put 12,000 more miles on it with no problems. I'm sure people out there will think that was stupid, and I should have replaced the tire, but I was broke and could barely afford the repair kit.
I used a similar repair system this time (ream, and insert a rubbery plug, trim excess from outside). I'm not excited about having this on the back of my mind AGAIN every time I lean into a twisty.
I guess the reason I'm posting this is that I need to be swayed: Do I replace the tire, replace the emergency plug with a mushroom-type, or do I kick back and trust that everything will be fine...
ack.
