Handlebar, Lower Fairing question
« on: June 02, 2006, 01:28:59 AM »
Looking on www.ridenow.com 's website, I really like the clubman bars, will this give enough clearance without major modifications?  If not which bar can I get to have a little sportier appearance on my 97 G1B6
?

Also in looking at LP's website i have noticed that there are no other lower fairings for sale, anywhere else they can be bought???

thanks for the help...in advance...

Andrew

do you have an S or naked model....on my 01 1200 naked I got the drag bars and love em. no mods needed and you get a little forward and lower...pretty close to clipons i think. they may get in the way of your plastics on the 97, I'm not 100% sure on that. I think that Red01 knows some people or has seen some people around that have that particluar model on their bike and he will be able to tell ya. But for 13 bucks you cant really go wrong can you?

i have the S model.  I like the look of the clubmans best, with the most extreme bend...  you are right about not going wrong for 13 bucks, but i dont wanna have 6 sets of handlebars for that price, sittin around the house because of clearance issues...(ok maybe that was extreme) anyways you catch my drift...
thanks for the reply,
...any other suggestions?

and for the fairings.

i bought mine at a local bike dealership that distributes lockhart and phillips' accesories.
once in awhile they'd pop up on ebay cheap around 50$

LP still shows them on their site, though I admit, they're not easy to find. You have to put 'bandit' in their search box to find them. According to what I found, you can only get them in the red color of the '98/'99 B6 (p/n 105FGL68). Primer versions or other colors are no longer available. If your bike is a different color, you can always repaint.

lockharts doesnt sell direct. you need to go to a dealer and order it from them.

that's what i did.

got em' primered.

250$ primered.

extra 100$ for a painted one.

i did spend 60$ on the paint and got my buddy to paint em.

go with the dragbars, if you want the lowest you can go without moddin. They work pretty well and put you at about a clipon angle without droppin a wad of cash

It's more work and $, but you have more bar options.

I trashed the stock tubular bar and went with clip-ons on my 1200S. I had Pro Tek bars on top but this gave too much drop in the triples.

Decided on Helibars, they are pictured above.  They are Helibars for the 1100XX Honda- 43mm bars -and work well on the Bandit.

Find out what other bikes use 41mm tubes (B6 size I think) and shop ebay for a match. To work on the S, they must have about 2inches of rise to clear the bodywork.

Good Luck, Ed.
