Metzeler Roadtec Z6
« on: March 11, 2005, 02:57:15 PM »
Hello there
After much deliberation i have changed from my Avon Azaro's to the Metzelers roadtec z6, only got them today and after having them fitted it started to rain :crybaby:  so can't say much about them at the mo'.
The reviews  i have read though sound pretty good so i'll keep you all informed.
Any one got these fitted ? i'd be interested in your thoughts

cheers

I haven't tried them, but the reviews I've read have been pretty positive. The only complaint I've read is they are hard to tell when they get worn down in the middle since there's no tread there. This fact also makes me wary of their wet road performance, though most seem to say it's OK as the front pushes the water out of the way. I'm still a skeptic on that though. I'd rather have some tread grooves across the middle.

That was a good thought Paul so i have e-mailed Metzeler asking them why no tread pattern in the centre. When i get a reply i'll post it.
I thought about putting the sportec on but changed my mind cause i wanted something a little harder wearing.

I don't know how they do it, but the reviews claim that the Z6 is one of the best wet weather tires on the market as well as the best dry grip sport touring tire. I am still toying with buying the Continental Road attacks, I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I've had my Z6's for about half a year now and I'm very happy with them.  I've ridden in rain, through twisties, you name it, and I recommend them to anyone who'll listen.  They're a really great tire.

Glad to see someone has the roadtechs on! Been thinking about putting Metzlers on this spring and didn't know anyone that had them. Thanks for the post. I've been pulling my Bandit up to NY almost every year for the past 6 years in August or early September and riding the east end of Long Island. Pretty scenery out there on both forks!

KT,

I like to head out there as well.  I'll suddenly get a *cough, cough*, and call in sick and spend the whole day out there, from Port Washington to Montauk.

Lunch at Claudio's in Greenport ain't bad at all!! Lunch at the Lobster Inn on hwy 27, (just as it turns to 2 lane) doesn't suck either. I'm in the restaurant business so a lot of my travels include finding good places to eat.

I have to try those two out.  I like to stop by The Steam Room in in Port Jeff and hang out with all the other bikers in the parking lot across the street afterwards.

OH NO what have i done :duh:  the z6 are crap!!  No just joking since putting them on i havn't had much time to go and play, i havn't even scrubbed them in but i still think there a damn good tyre (thats what all the reviews keep saying anyway  )

I put z6's on front and rear i always change both tyres at the same time. I know alot of people don't but thats just me i prefer fresh rubber all in one go.
Keep us informed and let us know what you think.
Oh and how much did you get them for? i paid £190 for the pair on a ride in ride out.

Cheers

Glad I don't live in the UK! £190 = $358.18 at today's rate.
A set of Z6's for a B12, mounted and balanced can be had for $240 (£127.32), maybe even less if you shop harder than I just did to find a price.

I can go off poeple you know RED01, yes everything is more in this counrty. Im paying £85 but i've taken the wheel off. I'll ask how much the front is dont think they have a ride in ride out service. I know National Tyres do but never like there prices in the past.
