Putting My Order In On Tuesday.....

for a set of Givi engine guards and a Givi "DS" touring screen.
Last year Givi couldn't make up their corporate minds about exactly what their engine guards fit or didn't fit. Last year
they said the guards fit only 2G bandits from '00 to '02 and nothing later.
Now all of a sudden, the same part number fits from '00 to '06. Well, that's Italian manufacturing and design for ya. I'll let everyone know what the fit and quality are like....assuming they actually WILL fit my '06.....
The screen, of course, was a totally different one for '06 (also fits the '07 as well) and the DS series is 11.7 cm higher than stock (~4.6"). With that on there and then the Laminar Lip on top hopefully the windblast will be substantially reduced. Well, we'll see. Film @ 11....maybe.....

I hope the mounting hardware is of better quality than the SHITE I got with my wing rack kit. Coarse looking galvanized grey hardware with a black set of mounting brackets. I'm going to the local fastner place on Monday to see if I can get some nice black annodized hardware.
Post pics of your installation. I'll probably post pics of mine with any comments on ease or difficulty.

Cheers, Graham

Givi screen arrived today and it looks good....but it'll look better when I get it installed and tested out on Sunday.
Update to follow re wind protection (or not) next week sometime.

OK.....Givi screen installed and tested today. The install was pretty straightforward and the fit is fine with some fiddling and cussing. About 1 hour altogether start to finish.
Subjectively the air blast is less than the stock screen.....but about the same as the stock screen with the Laminar Touring Lip mounted on it. I want to put the Lip on the Givi screen but it's going to take some finagling since the Givi screen has a different profile to it and the Lip is molded for the stock screen. I may end up prying the "velcro" mounting buttons off of the Lip and moving them around some to get the mounting just so on the Givi screen.
One thing I DID notice about the Givi is that it is sloped backwards somewhat more than what I would consider ideal for optimum deflection....but there may be considerations of wind pressure being more than the screen/fairing could handle that I'm just not aware of. I assume they had an engineer do the proper calculations....hopefully.....
I'll post some pics on PhotoBucket when the guards arrive and get mounted. You'll be able to see the whole package then.
