2006, 500ks am I paranoid

Picked up my new 1200 last week, now clocked up 500 k's . All great but at 4000revs on an annoying tingle (vibration) through the bike is this normal, will it go away once run in or should the dealer fix at first service3. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I believe that is normal for the bike. Mine has done it since new. It won't be leaving you after service. There are certain remedies that will reduce how much you feel it.  You can search this site for those.

the 4000RPM range is the buzziest of the Bandit's bandwidth.... but it does get a little better as the bike gets broken in.  

This is the case with almost all motorcycles as the engine 'settles in'.

Hey i know one thing! I would use that to have the carb's sync'ed or set the stage for a valve adj, check later on! These must have gotten worse with the newer models? Does anyone know if a jet kit make any diff in the 4k buzz? They couldn't have leaned them out anymore than say the 01's were! Do the new ones have the lower Euro eng mount like the 600's have? :shock:  :duh:

Mine had some vibes around that range when I got it, but not as bad as some I gather.
My solution was to fill the bars with lead shot, which you can get from an ammunition reloading supply, or cutting open lots of #6 shotgun shells! :roll:
I also machined custom bar ends out of brass that are mucho heavier than the stock ones, and look sweet to boot. :wink:
Together, these two things have almost eliminated the buzz at all rpms.
I've also heard that gel grips help, and of course gloves, which you always wear anyway, right?

thanks for the feedback, I was kinda hoping that a new bike would not require the use of shot in the bars to stop the annoying vibe. But I suppose if nothing else works then what the hec.

I also think that the carbs should not need a sync done with 500 ks on the clock?

"Ah" but that is when they need it the most! Go into a stealers DEN and say its just not running as smooth as my buds! The first thing out of there mouth!!! (which is a $$ maker for them) carb sync! It will make a huge diff on the way it runs, is a simple thing to do with the best results. At all RPM. Like a tug of war, if all aren't doing there part! the others have to work harder!! Every part on a new machine has to wear in to its sweet spot!!! Even a EFI eng needs the throttle body's sync'd! I think it should be part of the 600m service and is on the more expensive stuff!! :beers:

Same here, 4000 a litle buzzy but has been much better now that I have it broken in. Also a carb sync helps alot too.
2005 Bandit 1200, Modified Holeshot Stage 1 with 17.5 pilots 2.75 turns out, and 110 mains 5 shims. Muzzy Slip on w/mid-pipe, stock filter. 1.5" hole in the airbox lid.

Everything mechanical has a certain range in its operation where frequency's are loudest.

The Bandit's is in the 3500-4500 rpm range.

Another vote for a carb sync to smooth things out.  They are NOT in really good sync from the factory.

But do these thing first:

1.  Make all the performance mods you plan on. (e.g. exhaust, jet kit, A/F screw adjustments.)

2.  Replace the air filter or make sure it's in good shape.

I've got 4000km on my 06 now and can feel some vibs in the feet at the 4500 range, but not bad. There is, however, absolutely nothing coming thru the bars. If you're feeling it there, ther is something wrong.

just changed from 600 to 1200 noticed the vibes straight away.some at 2000 r.p.m. but most at 4500 r.p.m. .just had carbs balanced,made no diference.As bike is still in warranty suzuki have agreed to strip motor and balance crank. will keep you up dated.
