Chain Adjustment Question
« on: September 04, 2005, 10:19:40 PM »
I have an 05 B12.  I adjusted the chain while on the sidestand like the manual says to .8 - 1.2 inches slack, however, when I sit on the bike the chain tightens up to possibly less than specified tolerances.  You think I should re-adjust chain so it has specified slack while sitting on bike?

Check out my reply to a previous message "Red powder on my ---" in this forum for one way to adjust the chain.

That's exactly why the slack window is there, to allow tightening with swing arm movement..  Think of the slack it takes up when hard cornering addig your weight plus g force multplier. Go with the specs and manual recomendation so it doesn't get too tight or too loose in a wide range of positions/conditions.  :)

What they've said.

I adjust to the maximum end of the book's spec. It is better for it to be a little too loose than a little too tight.
