Mystery Electrical Problems
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:41:19 PM »
I am looking for any advice on my 2001 600s and the electrical problem I am having. As of 2 weeks ago I have started to experience some sort of short while driving. It generally happens at higher speeds (120 kmh) when I put on the turn indicator of the high beams, I get what can best be described as a chug in the engine (somewhat disturbing at speed). It is intermittent and may be liked to dampness. I have most reciently noticed that now the Tach drops to 0 and returns and the spedo acts in a similar way. It is almost as if the bike tries to stop or stops for that split second, but then keeps running. The trip computer also resets back to the odometer. Does anyone have any ideas?...Thanks Greg

Hey Hewie5417

Pull the tank and start looking for any wires that might be chaffed or pinched. Since you notice it most when you use the left switchgear, spend the most time looking at the wires going to or from the switchgear. I would also disassemble the left switch and have a look.
