Broke a plastic tab of my fairing. Will it effect anything?
« on: December 13, 2005, 01:24:25 PM »
I Took the side mirrors off, then the black plastic piece that the surrounds the windshield.  Anyways, I broke a tab off on the black piece.  It bolted on fine and seems secure, but should I worry at HWY speeds of it coming off.

If it's still got some screws through it, it won't come flying off.  It may rattle or buzz a bit more, though.

Being behind the windsheild and inside the fairing, it doesn't see much wind.

I believe he's talking about the "v" shaped piece that goes on over the wind screen. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are some little tabs that fit inside the fairing. Mine has a couple of those broke and I've had it up to 115 like that. If that's what you're talking about, don't worry about it.

I've taken than piece on and off to do a couple things.  The mirrors will keep it from coming off, but as was noted above, it MIGHT make a little more noise.  If it does, a bit of double-sided foam tape or even a dab of silicon glue/caulk would anchor it more firmly without being impossible to remove later when needed.

If it's one of the little tabs on the side, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it was the big one at the bottom, that would be of more concern.

Those tabs don't really do too much. I haven't broken one off yet but from that site(blade bandit?) which tell you how to take the fairing off says it works just fine without the tabs.
