tons of wind rushes in UNDER the fairing in that little space...anybody know what that thing does?

You actually just stated it.... tons of air rushes thru it because otherwise you would be a barn-door on the highway.

That hole in the bottom of the winds screen equalizes the air pressure in front and behind the wind screen. This means less turbulance t the rider.

Wandering off topic here...

When I am "in the zone" (not AutoZone), I get stuck singing the same song over and over, inside my helmet, sometimes almost and hour before I realize it. Something about riding stimulates that part of my brain, I guess. I have several that come up for no reason, but the absolute most frequent is another duet, "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" and yes, I do both the Kiki *and* Elton lines!

One bad thing about the space is it lets all kinds of water and dirt in there and then you only have a .5 inch of space to clean on the back of the fairing.
