Victim’s husband runs down robber Apr 26:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PETALING JAYA: The husband of a robbery victim managed to arrest one of the two suspects who tried to escape with his wife’s handbag in front of their house in Damansara yesterday. The drama unfolded about 9am when the 54-year-old housewife was about to leave her home in Bandar Utama in her car.As she was about to enter the vehicle, two men, one armed with a meat cleaver, confronted her.They grabbed her handbag containing RM800 and other personal belongings before escaping on a motorcycle.The husband, who witnessed the incident from inside the house, jumped into his car and gave chase.A few hundred metres away, the husband caught up with the robbers and rammed into their motorcycle, causing both suspects to be thrown off the machine.The husband, with the help of passers-by arrested one of the suspects and recovered the handbag from him.Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Hazam Abdul Halim said police also seized a meat cleaver, four handphones and some foreign currency.“Initial investigation showed that the motorcycle was stolen from an army personnel in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong at 8am yesterday,” Hazam said.The suspect, who has two previous convictions for robbery, is being investigated for possible involvement in similar crimes reported in the district since early this year.
