« on: January 26, 2007, 04:44:19 AM »
I have read lots of topics about riders going from Bandits to Busa's, but does anyone know of anyof anyone who has gone from a Busa to a Bandit, would be an interesting read and reasons why

He didn't own a 'Busa, but Crasher has ridin' both and said his Bandit was quicker handling on the tight roads. He's a pretty quick rider, (and did get a chance to live up to his name at the last rally)  had the back jacked up on his Bandit.  I have mine up too,for more ground clearence, and quicker handling. Depends what you want it for. If you live on straight flat roads(like Daytona)the 'Busa might be the ticket.

Its amazing what after maket add-on's and customized modifications can do. Having said that here is the question that counts. Box stock we know that overall the Busa out performs all the Bandits hands down silly, the question is what small category's do the bandits out perform the Busa.

1) Tire life!! Busas have a healthy appetite for rear tires.
2) Ergonomics.
3) Looks.

Tire life- that makes sense
Looks- very subjective, my opinion dead gorgeous
Ergonomics- that part has me a bit worried as at a glance she looks sadistic, but so far every boomer I have talked to swear that they are surprisingly comfortable. I wonder if custom bar risers will make all the difference?
If I do buy it will be used and white.

The Busa's ergos aren't as punishing as sportier bikes, like the GSXR1000, R1, etc. - and I know plenty of folks say they are comfortable and plenty are used as dedicated sport-tourers, complete with hard bags. I just think the B12 is MORE comfortable. I'd also not want to make a passenger ride on the back of a Busa all day, but if you have no plans for a pillion, then that doesn't matter.

The Happy Bus seems to be a "love it or hate it" bike when it comes to looks. I respect them for what they are and can do, but I'm in the latter crowd - the one that refers to them as "Eye-abusers."

Busa's have a longer wheelbase and are heavier than the Bandits.  In the straights, they can beat a Bandit, but that isn't neccesarily the case in the twisties.  BTW here is another area where the Bandit definitely beats the Busa, PRICE!

I love my Bandit for EVERYTHING it is and does. I've never ridden a 'Busa and probably never will but......it's not THAT ugly. In fact, IMO, the whole package has a certain look to it that just says.....SPEED!!!!
Now if you want eye-abuse, IMO, try looking at the B-King for awhile..... :monkeymoon:

I rode a busa once.  It was fairly comfortable and fast, but I was happy to get back on the B12.

I actully do like the looks of the 'Busa. And always thought it would be a good bike to go on tour with. As far as price, you can find a used one in decent shape for about a grand more than a Bandit. ( I know someone who might sell his four 4K)
Fast Larry hasn't been on line for awhile on the Bandits R US list, but his Bandit has smoked some 'Busas on the strip and the street.(among other vehicles) And I'd get smoked on a straight run, but I'd take on a "busa on a tight run or a track with my Bandit.

Not all the Bandits

There are a couple of Busa's running around the Carlsbad area that have been handed their ass a couple of times in a friendly stop light to stop light gran prix   :stickpoke:

He didn't say all Bandits... he was comparing both in box stock condition. We all know the ease of cranking extra power out of the B12, that's one of it's charms. OTOH, the Busa has it's share of mods available, too... and it'd be a helluva lot easier to get a Busa to 200 MPH than a Bandit.
