How noisy is your helmet

I recently picked up a Zox helmet. It's pretty inexpensive, very light, and surprisingly well made and featured for the price. Wind buffeting on a naked B4 is minimal, and it's pretty quiet. And most importantly, it actually fits my head!

I only wear HJC helmets.  They are inexpensive & the only full face that I can put on while wearing my glasses.

I have older LT-12 that is very quiet & nice helmet in Maroon metalic.  It's close to  my Bandit's paint.

I have a newer AC-12 that is their top line sport model.  It looks pretty nice with red & silver graphics.  It's noticably louder that the older one.

Venting is so-so on both.

I've learned to wear earplugs.  I think that's solution.  Don't count on the helmet.

I have an HJC FG-12 and my wife the same size CS-12. Both are similar, decent but not quiet. I still use ear plugs on long rides.

My FG-12 is a little noisier on the right side than the left. Likely some slight difference in the air flow through the vents?

Just feeling smug figuring out who u wuz n all!

I see those Zox Supercomp helmets on ebay for around  $100 US, nice graphic ones too!, which is like, umm, $15.99 CDN right?

I plan to visit the booth at the bike show next year and try one on, then depending on price, pick one up off of ebay or from where you got yours!

I have a beautiful G-Max helmet I bought online for $75 and it works as good as the $500 helmets as they are all wind noisy. I use foamy ear plugs which not only eliminates the bothersome noise but actually allows you to hear better by eliminating all that low frequency back ground wind noise your able to make out higher frequency noise like conversation car horns. Just pick up a pack of 25 foamy plugs at Wallmart for $9 and be done with the problem as you already know that paying  more for these helmets only lines the pockets of the manufacture who cant even make a high end helmet thats quiet.

I have had Shoei, Bell, HJC and Arai.  I changed to Z1R a few years ago because of impact testing results that I believe makes them a better choice.  By chance, the Z1R is quieter than any of my previous helmets.  On my CBR929, it is quiet enough that earplugs dont make much difference.  On the B12S, it was noticably noiser.  I wondered why.  I concluded the windshield on the 929 directed the air at about mid chest and less air was blowing up, under the helmet.
The B12S shield directed air at aproximately top of shoulder level.  I took a dremel with a 1" circular saw and cut the windshield down to aproximately the same height as on my 929.  I removed about 3 1/2 inches from the bandit windshield height and the noise level is reduced.
Helmet buffeting is also decreased.  Where the airstream strikes you depends on your height, so this may not work for anyone much different than my 5'9" height.
