As much as I hang a bit of shyte on our American brothers and sisters, I hope all Bandit Alley members and families are all ok. :shock:

yeah- that is pretty wild...I see that they lowered the deths to 4 this morning...pending what they still haven't uncovered yet.

i've been over that bridge a few times.  Luckily, all my friends down there were nowhere near it at the time.

Our biggest bridges all float up here, but we have several elevated freeways & highways that run on top of each other for miles that would be even more disaterous if something like that were to ever happen to one of them. (Think of the 1989 Oakland  earthquale where the I-880 freeway collapsed on top of itself.)

Yes, Gerty was the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Gerty's replacement just had a partner bridge opened a few weeks ago... but The Narrows doesn't compare in length to the floating bridges over Lake Washington or Hood Canal. Not to say disaster can't strike a floating bridge, two of them have had a sinking event, but it was during storms when no one was on them.

To us aussies, hanging shyte on Americans, like racing cars, (and bikes of course), watching football, ( and cricket, just in case a pom should read this I will not say anything about jelly beans :stickpoke: ) eating meat pies and drinking beer. Its a efen sport down here mate. Who else in the world, (ok other than the poms, white South Africans, the French) could we hang shyte, without nuc's being let off at our back door, oophs there goes the French. :duh:

By the way Mick I thought it was the Kiwi's that have gotta watch the French - What did the rainbow warrior do to the french anyway...
