Depending on the location, we're already starting to see $3 US gal gas up here. Discount stations are in the 2.80's for regular and super or diesel is over $3. Name brand stations, like Shell are close to or over $3 for regular unleaded, especially in resort areas or near the freeway.

I have a feeling those might be getting a lot cheaper here pretty soon... kinda like muscle cars did when the gas crunch hit in the early 70's and you could buy 454 Chevelles and Hemi Cudas cheap.

You know what’s really sad I was watching the news the other day and I believe it was the former CEO of Exxon who had retired and was on the lecture circuit. And he made the comment:

"No one worried about the oil companies when oil was ten dollars a barrel and we were struggling to survive now that there at seventy five and their making a profit every one complains, get over it!"

Of course these comments come from a man whose retirement is 1.5 million a year!

I haven't really followed that spec closely. The only bike I can recall people really complaing about is the Honda SuperHawk, which is in the low 30's and not helped much by a smallish tank.

How can he make ends meet? That's gotta be one of the lower paid CEO retirement salaries of a big corp. I've ever heard of. Poor thing.

I had a 750 2 stroke Kawa triple that would drop into the low teens if you were too heavy on the throttle.  LOL

The gas situation here in Virginia Beach,  Fuel shortages, gas stations closed with no fuel. Gas stations going out of business. Prices changing hourly. Stations that have gas are charging outrageous prices. And all because we are switching to ethanol or so they say is the reason we are now paying 3.08 for regular. AAHHHH gas lines. Reminds me of the 70's !!!!!!

I guess the "high" gas prices in Saudi Arabia have been strangling their economy... King Abdullah slashed prices from AU$0.27/L down to AU$0.21.

Cheaper fuel for Saudis
May 02, 2006
AS petrol prices rocket around the world, the globe's largest oil producer, Saudi Arabia, yesterday slashed local pump prices by more than 30 per cent.

Saudis now pay just 21c a litre for standard fuel.
King Abdullah issued a decree saying the decrease would "improve living standards" and be for "the public good".

Some analysts predict Australian petrol prices, now about $1.35, could soon rise further.

At the weekend Treasurer Peter Costello called on Australians to brace themselves for substantial rises if a diplomatic crisis worsens over Iran's nuclear ambitions.

US President George W. Bush last week ordered a federal investigation into what has caused fuel prices to rise at least 25 per cent in the US over the past month.

US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman warned in an interview with NBC television that high fuel prices for consumers were here to stay for the next couple of years, citing huge demand from the fast growing economies of China and India.
Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily to increase production, launching a processing plant in March that raised daily production by 300,000 barrels to 11.3 million barrels.

I went out this morning just to putter around the backroads, watch wildlife and explore some untravelled trails, relaxing and enjoying a little breeze.
On my return, the trip indicator displayed 149 miles when I stopped a mile and a half from my house to fill the tank.  It took 2.7 gallons to top it off  up the tank neck.  I was only riding about 45-50 mph most of the time, so I expected gas milage to be pretty good, but I didnt expect it to be 55 mpg.  :-)  Its nice to know if I do screw up and find myself in the middle of nowhere and running out of fuel, I can squeak 55 mpg out of the B12.  LOL
