Hi all. New to the boards and Have a quick ?
« on: June 02, 2005, 10:11:03 PM »
I have a B4 I bought new in 91. Today I brought it out to try to get it running. Can't seen to laocate the key and the dealer says that if I can get the key ignition switch out it will review the key code.

My question is what do I need to remove the  screw/bolt (?) on the bottom of the switch?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if the B4 uses the same kind of fasteners to hold the ignition switch on as the newer Bandits, but if it does, you'll need a Tamper-Proof Torx bit, like this:

I had this same issue with my B6 as mine had no keys.  Go the easy route.  Take your bike to a locksmith and have him make you one.  By the time I took all the stuff off to get to the ignition, bought the special bit (its called a security torx bit, looks like Paul's pic but has a peg in the middle) and broke the bolts free of the loc-tite, it was a pain in the rear.  The dealer could not translate the code (this will be especially true with your bikes age) so I ended up going to a locksmith anyway, RRR.
