Sounds a little like the B12 oil consumption problem of 2001... At first, Suzuki figured it was a few cases of abuse, but after a while, they figured out there really was a problem. Early cases of "oil burners" were acused of neglect and warranty was refused. Once it was figured out, most were re-imbursed for their repairs.
If there's truely a problem, and not cases of abuse, it may take Suzuki a while to wake up to the fact. If you're worried, maybe you should look for a good, clean, used Happy-Bus.
