Motorcycle repairs led to violent spat in Lyons

LYONS — Kevin Senesac’s repeated attempts to repair his neighbor’s motorcycle led to a physical altercation that sent the amateur mechanic to the hospital and his neighbor to jail, according to Senesac’s girlfriend.
Senesac was listed in poor condition at Longmont United Hospital on Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman. He is recovering from a blow to the back of his head.
Police say he was hit by next-door neighbor Aaron Milacek, 25, during an argument around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Milacek, whom police arrested on charges of first-degree assault, told investigators he whacked Senesac on the head when Senesac “charged” him, according to reports.
“It’s my understanding that they’re friends,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Barber said. “The suspect, Aaron, told me he didn’t know why Senesac was mad at him.”
But Carrie Davis, who lives with Senesac next to Milacek’s home in the Riverbend Mobile Home Park, 501 W. Main St., said she knows why Senesac was angry.
Senesac, 48, whom Davis described as a gifted but uncertified motorcycle mechanic, had helped Milacek make repairs on a used motorcycle the 25-year-old purchased recently.
“Kevin’s a very peaceful person. He had really been doing the kid nothing but favors,” she said Thursday, sitting on her porch. Inches away, reams of yellow police tape blocked off the scene of the assault.
Milacek and his family could not be reached Thursday.
Unable to fix his bike, Milacek decided it was more trouble than the bike was worth and wanted to dispose of it. Senesac offered to dismantle the bike if Milacek would dispose of the pieces and pay Senesac $10 for blowtorch fuel, Davis said.
Milacek did not pay the $10 and delayed throwing away the motorcycle parts until the past few days, angering Senesac, Davis said.
The trailer park’s landlord finally cleared the parts from the area between the two trailers a few days ago.
That dispute was over, but Senesac then noticed a spare crankcase missing from his yard and blamed Milacek, according to Davis.
On Wednesday, Senesac was sitting on his porch with his brother, who could not be reached for comment, when Senesac decided to ask Milacek about the crankcase, Davis said. She was not present during the incident but heard the account from Senesac’s brother.
Milacek hit Senesac on the back steps of Milacek’s trailer, fracturing Senesac’s skull, according to police.
Senesac may have knocked loudly on Milacek’s door to discuss the crankcase, but he did not charge Milacek, so the self-defense argument is nonsense, Davis said.
“You don’t charge somebody and get hit in the back of the head,” Davis said.
Milacek made his first appearance before a judge Thursday at Boulder County Jail, court records show.
In addition to first-degree assault, he is accused of cultivating marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia. His next hearing will be held Tuesday.
His bond is set at $10,000. He was still in jail Thursday night, police said.
