WA, TX and maybe other states have had bills before their legislature in the recent past - and perhaps near future. Now there's an online resource available to help inform folks on the facts and fiction of lane sharing, splitting or whatever you wanna call it.

The TX bill got bogged down and never made it out of committee or something along those lines.   The issue is not dead but "more study" is needed thus I wouldn't expect anything soon.  FWIW, one of the State Reps is a rider and worked very hard to get it on the docket or ballot or whatever (sorry for the ignorance) but he is moving to New Mexico and it's likely lanesplitting in Texas is doomed.

Not sure I would want to try it with all the a$$ho!e drivers here....  :rant2:  :banghead:

I have to negotiate Baton Rouge traffic in the afternoon. It frequntly gets bumper to bumper and I become sorely tempted to lane split myself. I keep thinking even if a squad car does see me do it what can he do but watch as he is stuck in the traffic jam himself? I guess if he catches my plate number........

i'd've killed someone already if it weren't for lane-sharing
traffic is worse than hell in southern california anytime everyday.
even @ 3am on a sunday night you have construction
and congestion into one lane.

I don't really save time because I like to take my time when warming up
the bike and all, but it makes all commutes so much nicer.

In the old days trapped in my car, I'd be frustrated as a mu'-fu' getting everywhere 20-45 minutes late. Now I can enjoy the trip and laugh when hummers run me into another lane.  Yes they can kill me, but I have like 5-30 escape routes since my bike is so capable.

Cops are actually really nice to safe riders (non-flashy sport bikes).  I just try not to abuse it and pull into line when I see a cop.  I had a cop really intersted in my b4 ince - he actually wanted to know how fast it could go and admitted he would ride his kawasaki cruiser well past 100mph comfortably and easily.  I think they actually take pity on me because the bike is naked and scruffy/slow-looking.
