Police urge drivers to hide motorcycles

College Station police are urging motorcycle drivers to park their bikes out of site from passers-by after five were stolen over the past few days.
Lt. Mark Langwell said two Yamaha motorcycles worth about $7,000 each, a Daytona Triumph valued at $4,000, an Italian-made Aprilia Tuono priced at $10,000 and a Honda XR-250 with a $1,400 price tag have been taken since Sept. 11.
Police said they suspect the thieves likely are using a truck or trailer because locking the front of the motorcycles has not prevented the crimes. Instead of driving away from the scene on the motorcycles, the person or people responsible probably are throwing the bikes into the back of their vehicle, Langwell said.
The thefts have occurred between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. around the area of Harvey Road, Texas Avenue and the northern city limits, according to police.
'Hide them', cover them, chain them to a fixed object.......
Some sort of tamper alarm doesn't hurt, either.
I usually park one of my bikes in front of my apartment.
There's one parking space that's next to a curb, with some landscaping/tall bushes. I'll put the bike against the curb, and park my pickup close to the bike. (The parking area isn't 'lined'. )
I think I'm preventing 3-4 people from getting around the bike, and picking it up. There's not really enough room.
