Holy sheep shite, Batman....a whole WEEK without being able to get on here !!!! I just about went into withdrawl.....

Thank heaven I could still visit the OTHER Suzuki board....for old strokers. Between that one and this one I manage to maintain a semblance of what passes for sanity.....especially since winter doesn't want to let us go riding yet......although it IS only the 16th of March......

I have been a member of BA since the beginning, and was on the original Email list before then.  I have owned bandits since 1997.  It saddens me to say this, but this board has been so unreliable as of late that I just don't think it is worth visiting anymore.

I sure hope someone saves it but I think the time has come for me to say farewell.

I'm trying,... but I won't do it without the OK of the big man.

I have the ability to host, the board is also set up on my server with yesterday's data, but it will only go live when Pete says it's OK to host the backup.   (OK, it's live, I just won't publish the address til then.)

What I've been doing is taking a backup, usually about every couple of days, but I may step it up a little in light of recent events, and storing it.  Once(if?) I have the OK to host the backup in the event of outage, here's what I plan to do:

1. Restore the latest backup that I have to the Backup Board
2. Send out a mass email using the user admin panel with the address of the backup site.
3.  Host the site til Pete can get the other site back up.  (Provide him a copy of the latest database, so that he can restore to current.)
4.  Take the backup site down when it's not needed, but keep it waiting in the wings in the event that the main craps out again when Pete isn't available.

It's a little dirty, but it's the best solution I can come up with right now.

The important part is that the data is not being lost.  It's all being stored in a different country, for security reasons.  :stickpoke:

+1 on that, although, i've been able to get on on for 2 days in a row now.  Maybe we're out of the woods? Hopefully, maybe?

:thanks: Stormi! You are a Bandit goddess!

:bigok: for donating your time and server space to get the board up and running.

Any way you can get it running on the latest version of php s/w? Or have you done it already?

Not bad for a part-time Honda rider eh?

The database and the sw are both updated to the latest.   I -assumed- that when (if?) Pete decides he wants the board back that he'll upgrade first, then fix whatever's wrong, if it's still a problem after the upgrade, so I upgraded it all.

Please let me know if anyone gets those or any other messages!  I'm very curious to see if my "rural" internet connection is going to keep up.  If it can't, I have a contingency plan.

Long term though, I may have to work out the sponsorship of the site with Pete, as it will cost me about $250 - $300 a year to host this, if it has to leave the house.

Right now, my biggest problem is getting the message out to 1914 people.  Apparently, that's too many people for the SW to mail at once ( not that I blame it), BUT, the choice is all or one at a time, unless I put everyone into groups.  So,... teacher is going to split you all into groups,.. play nice.  :monkeymoon:
