Tough to say for sure. Depends on what the power-to-weight ratios are for the bikes. That's 100-less lbs advantage on the SV650. Also, the Katana's running 10.7:1 compression ratio versus 11.5:1 on the SV650. The Katana's on carbs and the SV650 is on fuel injection. The Katana's air/oil cooled while the SV650 has water cooling. Taking all this into consideration, those extra 100ccs may not give the Katana that much of an advantage.

Looks like despite the 750 Kat being heavier, it has a better power to weight ratio than either SV and does outperform it - just as I thought.

GSR looks nice and all, but I've read the reviews and apparently for what it's supposed to be, it's not fast, not that practical, and not the best build quality. They look ok (would look better with a single round headlight though!)

How does the SV650S get 12.3 MPG than the naked SV?  I thought the only difference was the faring.

I'd chock it up to variances in bikes more than anything, but the S model is more aerodynamic with it's fairing and lower rider position.

What shocked me was the crappy MPG the B6 got! They typically get in the 45-50 MPG range! 32.3 is like what a B12 with a Dynojet kit gets!

Interesting. I wonder how they get that power out of the Katana. It must be using hotter cams or something. I wonder how the Katana 750 gets better gas milage that an SV650. I guess fuel injection still has a long way to go on bikes.  Still, overall that's a slim line betwen the two bikes. Although I love the look of the all-black Katana, I think I'd still take the SV650. I just like a lighter bike.

Their MPG figures do seem to be all over the map. From what I recall of what people get with these different bikes, they are all pretty close to the same - in the 45-50 MPG range.

The B6/K6 makes 1 hp for every 9.4cc, the K7 is 1 for 8.8. Not a big difference and one that hotter cams and/or a bump in compression would easily account for... or even the bore-to-stroke ratio differences between the two.
