Gino, if the lady hasn't taken an MSF course...PLEASE push her into it!

Thankfully, she's done that at least.  We did convince her to do that first thing ... I followed her home yesterday from picking up her bike and she seemed to be riding it "calmly" ... I hope it sticks through the learning period.

Yah, the Atlanta area is a "fun" place to learn to ride a bike. :)  I upgraded from a Suzuki Volusia to my Victory after almost getting creamed on the interstates because of the lack of power in the 800cc Vol.

Hey Pete, I see you're a site admin ... nice touch having yourself join at epoch-time. :)

Well, there've been a few folks who've used B12's for cruiser purposes.

Okay, I LOVE the first one (second is a little too radical in the seating position for me).
Hey Red, I see you're from an island in Washington ... how close is that to Lummi Island?  I'm heading to the latter for vacation in a month (rented one of the vacation houses in the off-season).  What's the weather like up there in the latter part of October?

Again, thanks all for the welcome.  I'm hoping that given enough experience working on my friend's bike over the next two years of my classes that I'll be able to take a bandit and do something radical to it once my classes are done.  (again, that first picture is a lot of inspiration)

Lummi Island is about an hour up the road from me - probably ~25-30 miles as the seagull flies.

Expect cool (35-55*F), damp weather... unless you get lucky enough to be there during an Indian Summer. If you plan on being outside, better bring rain gear.

Although Al Gore often takes credit for it, GIno, I created the internet.
It was real tough, considering there was no such thing as a personal computer at the time.......but it had to be done.

Hi guys. Great forum!. I've just recently got a 2002 B-12 and LOVE it. Moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, USA from the UK where I had a Yamaha XJR 1300 (unavailable in the US). Prefer naked bikes with no chrome to polish as I like riding rather than cleaning. If anyone lives in or around the Hudson Valley region and would like to meet up for a ride or two please drop me a line! Ride safe, folks.
Best-hels Rune. :thanks:

Well maybe not a full newbie, but new to Bandits.  I've been riding pretty much all my adult life or what, 30+ years now.  I currently own 4 bikes not counting my wife's ride.  I live in the South Bay area of Los Angeles and am often a regular at the Rock Store.  I just bought an 05 B12 about 5 days ago after seeing the 06 preview pics because I just liked the 05 better.  My initial reaction to the bike is that it rides like crap and suffers from too much compression damping so I'm going to be interested in reading some fixes others have done in this area.  I also want about a 1-2" rise increase in the handelbars.  Every time a new bike comes my way it seems to take months to get it where I want it.  At any rate, looking forward to y'alls company, although I'm on 5 motorcycle lists already, D'OH!

Hey All!

My name is Dale, I live in Italy and ride a 2002 B12S (blue). I haven't done much with the bike, just a zero gravity windscreen and a full Givi luggage set (52 liter top pack and 40 liter saddle bags). Almost as wide as a Fiat.........lol

Hope to get to know some other Bandit fans...

Take care,

-Dale C.

Greeting from the Biker's Paradise of northern THailand.  Lots of well maintained paved roads, unsurpassed scenery, mountians (2500m high), jungle, teak forests, lax speeding enforcement (my last speeding ticket code mt 200baht ($5.00).

If you're planning a trip to Thailand, think about renting a bike then going for a ride!javascript:emoticon(':beers:')

Just bought a rebuilt '98 Bandit 1200S.  Love riding around the mountains and forests of northern Thailand a rider's paradise!

Hey Tom, welcome to the board.

I visited Chang Mai many years ago. It is a very beautiful part of the world that I would like to see again some day.

Regards, Daniel.
