KBC Force RR Helmet Speed Demon
« on: April 08, 2008, 09:04:01 AM »
I have recently purchased a KBC Force RR Speed Demon Gold helmet to replace my HJC CL-SP helmet. I purchased the KBC because I thought that the graphics look great and my old HJC wasn't sealing properly anymore. The differences between the helmets are the following. Both helmets are a small. I have a narrow head that I suppose you would call a rectangle. The KBC is fractionally smaller in the opening so that when I wear a balaclarva (spelling ?) under the helmet I have to push it on from above. Once on the padding inside is a little stiffer but I am hoping that it softens up over time. The visor has more positions and it closes with a definite snap. It will stay open in a cracked open position that is great for cold weather riding in slow traffic. It won't fog up on you. It has a built in nose guard. Good ventilation with lots of vents that can be opened or closed. The visor has a lip on the bottom that seals it when closed but when it is cracked open , looking through the lip distorts the view. Not a big deal but its there. The clip to snap the strap onto (the end) is short and therefore a little hard to find. THe visor on the HJC wouldn't seal properly anymore in the fully closed position. The KBC is very quiet in the ear area but you can hear the wind noise around the outside of the helmet. Thats normal though. Overall I am very happy with the KBC. Looks good, seals good, quiet inside, ventilates well, and it is a good price. I purchased it on imotorcyclestore.com with free shipping. Got it in four days as it had to come from Texas to California.  I had tried the helmet on at a bike shop so I knew that it was going to be a tight fit untill it softens up a bit. As I said, happy with the purchase.

Hey Allan:

Hello there neighbor (I am down in L.A.)

I've been looking at the Force RR for a while now and your review just put me over the edge. I've had my eye on the Airborne design - which I think might be discontinued by now but still can be found out there in cyber space. If I can only convince my gf that having a woman on your helmet with nothing but thigh high stockings and pasties is not sexist but rather an homage to the fine men who fought and flew in WWII.

Well all I can say is best of luck. just make sure that you don't call the girl on the helmet by her first name. It's Roxy by the way. Any homage to the girls of WW2 who helped the guys get through it, should be accepted by everybody. Some of those designs on the front of the bombers were quite risque though.
Anyway, still happy with the helmet. A small bother with the breath guard just touching my nose but a quick snip with the scissors got rid of that. I wear a balaclava most of the time unless it is short ride in the heat of summer. The visor is doing well against the scratches. Anyway happy riding and I'm glad that it is going to cool down for a while.

This is actually the Airborne design I am most fond of and I just now realized that it's a Force S not a Force RR.

How familiar are you with KBC and how they fit?

I am guessing a small in one should be the same as a samll in the other but I did just get burned with that thinking when I recently bought two HJC smalls (the Orbit and Orsis) and of of those it noticeably bigger than the other so...

I'll just throw my $.02 in here.  I was at the track with a friend...  he has a new KBC Force - the RR, I think.  It was cool and rainy (FUN!).  He was riding with his visor cracked the whole time to prevent fogging.  I can't say enough about the anti-fog stuff on the Scorpion.  I had zero fogging issues.
