That's beautiful, Herb! How's it feel?
Thanks. Well, how's it feel? Hmmm, much better for me, no noticeable improvement for my passenger, though. She still got butt-burn after about 20 minutes. When I ordered I could have had them build up the padding back there, but I was afraid of getting away from the stock shape, so even with SuperCell it seems to be too hard. I was afraid of getting too much of a split-level look like the old Suzuki "L" model seats of the '80s.
For me, it feels much more like a saddle now, you know, a fit. Very firm right now. Need to get a few hundred miles on it. More roomy for moving around and adjusting position. I like it so far. I'll always wonder if a gel seat would have been a better idea from the standpoint of hauling a passenger. I may still have to get a strap on gel seat cover for my daughter, but that's not too much $$$. And she only rides with me a couple of times a month.
I may have another seat made eventually with a focus on the passenger seating area, since I do still have my original stock seat.
Hey Herb:
What exactly did you have them do to your stock seat?
It looks like you ordered the piping & insert options. Did you have it widened or moded in any way?
Thinking about having my stock seat done seeing how I lost the bid on the corbin seat on E bay.
Well, as you said, I selected Carbon F/X seat inserts, maroon trim, and silver welting. Inside, they steam your existing foam, if it's decent, to return it to it's original size, shape, and consistency, then I had them add their proprietary SuperCell foam over that in the interest of more comfort. They will reshape and whatnot per your instructions, but I was afraid to go that route and asked them to maintain the overall stock shape.
You sure drink a lot of sodapop.
You don't miss a thing! Yes, in fact, I do! About 6 a day. Then there's what the wife and kids suck down. You ain't seein' the half of it!
Although it wasn't a prime consideration, my color/design choices were made with a bit of an eye towards the possibility of that seat eventually ending up on a BLACK 1200S. My Givi top case also has a red stripe and red goes really well with black, so I still have a match if I buy a newer Bandit. Which WILL be black. I love black bikes. And I'm in the market for a second bike, or a change in plastics for mine (black) . I wouldn't mind having another Bandit...
And after I do these things, I wonder if my wife will bury them with me.
