Time to clean the cooling system

i found my cooling system are full of rust, in engine, hose.......... radiator, and i remove the drain bolt, it only remain its head..... seems so serious.
The previous owner seems use tap water.......

i want to remove the rust, but i found some homepage said using acidic cleaning fluid will damage the seals of water pump......

can anyone give me some advice?

What I would do:

-remove the supply line to and from the water pump. You can (should) also remove the thermostat so it's a clean shot through the motor.

-use your garden hose and proceed to douche out one end and watch the other end spew

-repeat for other end, repeat till douche is clean water

-refill with distilled water and ride for a short while (don't forget to reinstall T-Stat), then re-douche

-After runoff is clear, fill with correct mix of anti-freeze.
