Best Swinger and Shock combo?
« on: October 01, 2007, 12:36:46 AM »
Which is the best swinger and shock combo. I like the one sp model that gsxr400 is selling. Hey gsxr400 how is that swinger with the gsxr400 shock? Is it direct bolt in? If it is, can find me one? I'd like to get one from you.

do you have to have that tap? because i got that gixxer 400 and he put on an 05 rear brake, so the brace isnt there anymore. should i be worried about it breaking?

Later bikes without the tab and strut arm, have the caliper on a slide that engages a slot on the inside of the swingarm. The mount/caliper can slide with the axle and rotor, but cant rotate since it located by the swingarm.Im not sure how the GSXR-400 had its rear brake mount located since there was no tab and no slot in my swingarm to hold a caliper mount. Its possible the mount was a "C" channel and slid over the swingarm's body.
I only waited 15 years, to buy a B4!!

Assuming the standard Gixxer 400 swingarm has the same dimensions as the SP model,it will go in just like mine.

The B4 cush fits the 1st gen SV rear wheel with no mods.No chain alighnment issues if you use the stock B4 left side spacer and cush. The right side spacer has to be cut down just a little,I used a belt sander to take off 2-3mm evenly. The SV uses a smaller rear rotor,so you need an SV rear caliper mount.
A 160 tire fits just great and clears everything provided you run the axle to the rear half of the slot.

Thanks Steve, the sandard is the same dimensions not sure about the axle size as i thought they where all the same as the bandit. on the gsxr the brake arm mounts like the b4 but with a longer arm that conects to the frame.
cheers

so jay you are saying that the gsxr comes with a floating back brake? now i come from a mountain bike back ground and these help alot for when you need the suspension on to bind up and still need full braking power. since you come from a racing back ground do you think it would be wise to put the brace back on, so you get the full benefits of a floating caliper?
or even for the bandit boys you weld there brake on to the frame so they too can have a floating caliper

well i had the tabs welded to their swingarms so they could retain the stock b4 brake arm and i figured it was easier than welding on the frame yours sound like what the rgv banana swinger is like and the newer gsxrs so hard to say what is better as long as it can not move in a circle when you apply the brakes it should be fine.

nice buy kako, you ended up getting it? hey you may have to take more pics cause i can't see how he managed that one either. the stand is in the way or you may have to take the wheel off. he must have been pritty handy cause he only asked a few questions then sent me a picture months down the road of the finished bike. how do you like it? sounds neet i bet with the twins. cheers and email me any time and also keep it locked up as someone is reporting a stolen one up there on another board
cheers
