Best Swinger and Shock combo?

So what are the advantages of the gsxr swinger over the b400 swinger?

I've got a vague idea, but if someone can spell it out, that would be good.

It's lighter because it is aluminum and it's shorter by almost two inches. It brings the B4 into the same wheel base length as the GSXR400.

Thanks Gary.

How does the swinger swapout affect the rear shock mounting points/distances?

I have two B400's - one's a beaut, one's a non-running dunger. I'm thinking about selling the runner and using the cash to rebuild the non-runner as a track weapon. That way I don't have to worry about pesky on-road compliance issues like lights and so on.

According to all the info on this site they should just swap except for the brake caliper support.
I don't have mine yet. I hope to get one from England in the next month.

So the '89 gsxr swinger is a straight bolt-up to the '92 B400 (more or less)?

Just need to double/triple check before bidding.

Hmmm......question?

If the stock Gixxer has the rear torque strut attached to the frame, would that not induce some bind in the rear suspension under compression?
Even if the arm were allowed to pivot freely,it would induce rotation of the caliper holder as the suspension moved. The caliper holder is usually compressed tightly between the wheel spacer and swingarm, and while it can rotate, its not an easy thing to do since the axle nut is squishing the whole mess together. With the torque strut bolted to the swingarm, the entire unit moves as one,but attaching it to the stationary frame, would require some changes to the rear brake.
Is the stock Gixxer rear brake bracket fully floating on the axle?

Huh.....actually,I think I probably figured it out.
If the arm's frame pivot is in the same location as the swingarm pivot, then the two would follow the same path as they swing.....hence no bind or rotation of the brake mount.
Since the swingarm's width tapers down a bit towards the main pivot, there is probably room on the frame, outboard of the pivot,to put the strut arm mount point on the same axis.
