carb slide guides
« on: August 10, 2013, 11:30:45 AM »
long time in the forum, not many posts written, I do however read regularly and I will probably need your advices again soon as my old limited edition bandit is in need of some care.

The short version of the story is my engine makes weird noises and burns a lot of oil, money is hard to find so (the mechanic suggested that) the cheapest option is a new engine from a donor bike. The plan for the old engine is to take it home, and when money becomes available, open it see what's wrong and maybe overhaul it (FZR600 59mm pistons, right? I will ask again for instructions when the time comes).

The more immediate problem are the carbs. The slide guides are worn and need to be changed, but they are not offered as part by Suzuki. Anyone knows where (if) they can be found elsewhere or do I have to find new carbs?

Thanks for all the help.

New carbs only.

People have used epoxy to build up the old slides and the sand them down. Tedious, but possible.
