Clip-on bar end plug - removal

Hi there,
I have a '97 GSF400.
Are the "plugs" that the bar end balance weights screw into part of the clip-on or can it be removed? I've checked the parts list and it shows them as being a separate part. Any idea on how to get them out?

Typically, you just loosen the screw in the bar end weight and remove the inner part with the outer part. Sometimes you need to tap on the screw so the expanding part of the inner will collapse enough to make removal easier.

Had a proper look today and moved the grip. It's defo all one piece. I did want to look at getting some bar end mirrors that go into the bar. Will just have to get the ones with clamps, like the CRG Hindsight ones.
