Cylinders 1 and 2 dont work ?
« on: April 20, 2008, 05:12:56 PM »
Im having trouble with my B4.
Last week i replaced the rear shock, which obviously requires the removal of the tank. This week when i started the old girl up i notice she is only firing on 2 cyliders: No.3 and No.4.
I have taken the plug out of No.1 and it is sparking just fine, so its not an electrical fault ( it would affect 1 and 3 wouldn't it ? )
So, im thinking maybe i reconnected one of the three hoses under the tank incorrectly. There seem to be 2 breather hoses and a fuel hose, would replacing the breathers hoses the wrong way cause the bike to run badly ?
Any ideas please ??

Yep, ive had 1 and 2 out and ran the bike, the plugs were sparking, so it doesnt seem to be a problem with them.

Tried running the bike with plugs 3 and 4 disconnected and it wouldnt start.
Ive removed the tank and reconnected the hoses, i assume the hose that goes to the carb' body connects to the back of the petcock valve ?
Anyway, there is still no joy :annoy:
This is very annoying as it was working upto last week when i took the tank off..........
If i turn up the idle screw i can get it to tick over on just the 2 cylinders, so i think i might have to bite the bullet and take it to a garage.

Do you have the plug wires on the right plugs?
If the #2 lead is on the #1 plug and vice versa, the plugs will still spark, but not at the right time.

Its a mystery.

I wish i wqas more observant !
Just got off the phone to my mechanic, he reckons a new coil and leads/plugs. He thinks the coils are Left side #1 and 2    Right side #3 and 4

Im sure the coils on mine are left coil goes to 1 and 4   right coil goes to 2 and 3.

Help me people..... Has a previous owner messed about with this ? What is the correct setting.

Left coil Cylinders ? and ?

Right coil cylinders ? and ?

thanks for any help.
