Hey All,

I thought it would be good to keep a list (eventually to transfer to the wiki) that would detail some of these parts.

It can really help us when we need one of those "emergency" parts.

Ideally, it would be helpful to  post references as well.

Regulator Rectifier:

Almost any bike with similar power output from the stator.http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/VoltageRectifierFAQ.htm
GS500 is a direct replacement -  http://www.electrosport.com/products/product-detail-576.php
I used one from a 89 Honda CB400 (it was in stock at Scona (Honda dealer), and also cost 1/2 what the Suzuki part did.) I just had to change the two pin connector on it.http://forums.banditalley.net/index.php?topic=2305.0

Essentially, the two main concerns are: watts/volts/amps and the number of wires.

Don't get a regulator that's not capable of handling the power from the Bandit's stator (362.5W)

The regulator must have 3 yellow wires, plus a positive and a negative.  Suzuki uses Black for negative and Honda uses green.

Exact Suzuki Matches (based on part #) according to BikeBandit:

Speedo Cable:

On the B4, single disk front wheel for sure: We can use the cable from a GSX-R750-1100
Part # 34910-48B00

Dita was the test bike for this one.  r_outsider managed to snap this cable less than two weeks after pulling the ball off the throttle cable.

Bike Bandit says that based on that part #, these bikes are compatible:

Anyone have any other change up parts to add?

Geez.. I thought you'd have a whole list of change up parts, Jay!  :stickpoke:

Ive been doing the same to the KTM too.  I get some of the weirdest looks from the new guys at Scona (Honda dealer).

new guy at the counter: K, so what bike are we looking for parts for?
me: 1991 Suzuki Bandit 400, and a 2002 KTM 20 EXC...  :trustme:
ng@c: uhm,.. you know that this is a Honda shop, right?
me: yup, you're cheaper, faster and I like the quality of the parts you get me...
ng@c: uhm,... k,... what do you need?

I suppose the Yamaha FZR600 caliper I have on the front doesn't count, does it?  (Whoever put it on used a custom mounting bracket.)

Are you looking for anything that works as a replacement part or only specifically known things that work?  IIRC, my pegs are off the shelf generic aftermarket Suzuki pegs.  My speedo cable is from 'something else' too.  If I can find the receipt, I'll post it.

Has anybody made a list of B4-specific aftermarket goodies?  That should be a different thread but I've only heard of three things, all here.  (pistons, sliders, and crash bars)

I was hoping for mostly parts that someone new to wrenching, and in need of parts fast/cheap/at all would be able to change without burning a bike down, or putting their life in (further) jeopardy...

But really, there's no reason we can't add it all to this list, as long as we have the info on what needs to be customized, so the reader can make an informed decision...

No list of aftermarket yet that I know of,... you can go ahead and start it if you'd like,... I currently don't contain that knowledge.

Speedo Cable

On my 1991 GSF400, US model, my speedo cable is from MotionPRO, part number 04-0132.  The MotionPRO reference document says it was for a 1989 - 2000 GS500E.  The Suzuki part number would be 34910-11D01.

From the parts fiche (image attached at the bottom of this post):

GSF400 Speedometer Cables, two styles (I assume the other speedo cable is for models with two brake rotors):

Ref. Part Number Description
------------------------------------------
26   34910-11D01 Cable Assy, Speedometer
27   34910-10D01 Cable Assy, Speedometer

28       ---     Not listed in parts fiche
31       ---     Separate bracket

Levers

These are common enough Suzuki parts, I’ve been able to find them hanging on a peg when I asked for them in two shops.  Going through the MotionPRO list shows these machines using the same levers:

Clutch Lever
Suzuki part number: 57620-27A31
MotionPRO part number: 14-0401

DL 650        2004 - 2006

GSX 750F      1989 - 2003
GSX-R 600W    1992 - 1993
GSX-R 750     1986 - 1995

Thought gsx750 uses 40mm instead of 33mm like GSF400 ?

Al, since GS500 and gsxr750 has only 2 carb instead of 4 like bandit, buy two set of the maintenance kit which can be used to do the nandit's ?

PS - Sorry, just a noob question. It is virtually impossible to find gsf400/250 carb maintnance kit in Australia without buying it from US or Ebay, which seller operates from USA..

Opsss. my bad, just realise my GSF250 uses 30mm mikuni BDST, which the GSF400 uses 33mm Mikuni BST.

Anyone have any experiance swapping carbs from newer bandits or other bikes like the GSXR400?  My carbs are so totally driving me nuts I'd love to swap in something reliable...

If you search around there is not much that swaps well.  These carbs in this configuration were not used anywhere else, and there is nothing comparable, Ive read about some rigged setups with marginal results, but I have just been buying up every rack of carbs I can find for b4's, I believe the only reliability issue is the slide and guide wear, otherwise, hotter thermostat, make sure there are no vac leaks, and they should do fine...

If it comes to it, Im going to fuel inject mine.

Japanese import 1992 400 Bandit w/ dual front disks.

Front wheel bearings are 17x40x12 - interchangable with 99 SV650 front wheel bearings
Front dual rotors  - interchangable with 95-04 600 Bandit rotors
