tail light with integrated turn signals??
« on: April 26, 2010, 03:40:00 PM »
I recently bought a 1993 bandit 400 and the rear fender where the license plate mounts along with the turn signals has been shaved to provide a more stylish look. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a tail light with integrated turn signals built in since I have no way of mounting individual rear turn signals. Any help would be appreciated.

Integrated turn signals are not only a bad idea without exception, but also illegal. I suggest to find a way to attach some flush mount signals if not a more-less regular stalk mounted ones. You are better off giving hand signals than relying on integrated ones.

If you search for pics of my bike, you'll see an example of flush mounts.  They looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.     While, I don't think I'd be as strong in my opinion as Vlad, I do think most integrated signals are pretty dangerous.  The problem is that they can make braking difficult to discern.

Speaking of LEDs, very few setups are bright enough to even compare with 21/23W incandescent, and those are very expensive. Not only will you make your "turn signals" practically invisible, bur you will also considerably diminish the light output of your brake/running light.

I don't want anyone to realize how stupid an idea this is after they are rear-ended or cut off by an inattentive cager. Having a setup like this can make it very hard to get compensation for your damages/injuries.

After giving it more thought and realizing they are indeed illegal im going to go with a flush mount for sure.
