GSF 400P v GSF 400N...Whats the difference?
« on: August 21, 2006, 08:06:36 AM »
Hi everyone. I have a GSF 400 Bandit 1994 and only a few days ago i notesed that there are different ones out there. Whats the difference between 400P and 400N? Is there any other ones? How do i find out witch one is mine? Just was thinking bout ordering some parts from BikeBandit.com and notesed different parts bor differen Bandits. Wouldnt like to get the parts that dont fit :?:
Do the parts from 1993 bandit match 1994?
Thanks a mill.

Hmm, from looking at the microfich there are 3 main versions: M,N & P
I'm pretty sure i have an M, i think these are the standards. N versions have 2 discs in front and prolly some other small differences.
P is a mystery to me... perhaps the '96-97 models?

I've been wrong before, but I believe the letters indicate the year.

Example

1991 = M
1992 = N
1993 = P

So , there no letter specification for my bike then. And i have some writing in italian and the guy a bought it from told me it was an import from italy. Was there a special Italian edition ever? Dont think so.
So what parts should i be ordering for my Bandit then?

both my US '91 and '93 had single disc front. :?:

Is there a definitive source of model numbers and options?

Would be great to put in an FAQ around here (maybe one already, but I haven't found it).

i remember reading in the Manual other codes, which then determined the country the bike's coming from,
E-02 : England
E-03 : USA, except California
E-04 : France
E-21 : Belgium
E-22 : West Germany
E-24 : Australia
E-25 : Netherlands
E-28 : Canada
E-33 : California
E-34 : Italy

these codes are found on the frame, on my bike it's on a white sticker near the front... i think

huh... I checked on my bike and it's E-13, not on the list i gave earlier. It's coming from a French speaking country, that much is certain... Perhaps from Luxemburg?

E13 is a safety check for components used in transportation. My V.I.N. plate is French too and it's a West-German bike.
