Jay, Rob, just want to thank you two.
FINALLY got those 33mm carbs installed and operating correctly. The first time I put them on, #2 leaked like a seave and was causing fuel to flow directly into the engine. I tracked it down to the float sticking that was causing the carb to fill up, then the fact that all the carbs share a common overflow did the rest, and changed the needles (wrong ones installed, the old carbs had different (thiner, longer) needles).
Today I reinstalled the carbs after verifying they didn't leak anymore. After a few false starts I got her idling at 2500RPM. From there a little more tweaking took her down to a very smooth 2000RPM idle. She's not -perfect- in that she's slow to return to idle (although she does without any 'seeking' thats indicative of air/vacuum leaks), but she runs well now. Starts right up and goes like stink! I don't know for sure if I have her jetted correctly, but there doesn't appear to be any flat spots and she is pulling nicely throughout the RPM band (surprised me, first gear rolling start and I cracked the throttle to check for bog, she lifted the front tire right off the pavement)
Now I just need to figure out how to get the old broken ignition switch out and the new one installed. Doesn't look like any kind of bolt/screw I've ever seen. Any thoughts on that?
