Check your other keys for cracks. All of my factory keys cracked. I got some keys cut with ilco blanks and they seem to hold up much better.

Yeah, if you can't grab it with tweezers or back it out with a t-pin (like you find in the crafts departments of Wal-Mart of Target), call the dealer and have the recommend a locksmith (to get one that understands ignition locks).  I hope you don't have it in a fork-lock position, because at least you can still roll the bike as needed.

I guess this is at home, not in a parking lot somewhere?

Even if it has snapped off he still has both parts of the key so it will still work if you just put the piece in the top and turn it.

Huh?  Only if it broke off deep enough that the top piece also engages and causes the lock to turn.   If it broke up just short of the top of the lock, that won't work.

Well he cant see it so id say its pretty likely the top piece still engages.

I overlooked that detail, so your idea may or may not work.  But it's still just a stopgap to get the bike to a repair shop, rather than a fix.

This kind of thing has happened to me.  Some locksmiths are only one step down from surgeons and can do amazing things.  That would be my vote.

So you're saying that the fact that both bikes only have one key is a bad thing and I should have a spare for each????    :duh:
