Tire sizes?
« on: May 15, 2008, 12:53:24 AM »
I'm vertically challenged and looking to gain less height on the bandit, looking to drop the front to 110/70/17 and the rear to 150/60/17.  Are there any potential problems with this set up?  Any insight?  Thanks, Josh.

I'm far from an expert on the 400, but I thought the factory tire WAS a 110/70-17? I don't know of anyone who makes a 110/60-17, but I haven't looked much. You should be able to drop the fork clamps down the fork tubes to lower the front, however.

You can likely use the 150/60 on the rear, it should lower the back end approx 1.5 cm.

As long as you drop the front and rear a similar amount, you shouldn't notice a big change, but the shorter rear tire may slow steering slightly, since it IS a little "flatter".

factory was 110/70 but some people fit 120/60/17's to the front cause they come cheap in pair deals with 160/60 rears.

150-60-17 rear fits nice though is sometimes hard to find.  Here is a pic

I know next to nothing about the B4, but it seems to me that you could raise the fork tubes like Paul mentioned, and then look into some longer dogbones for the rear. That would probably net you more drop than a tire profile change.

You will gain next to nothing switching tire sizes. If your having a hard time touching the ground with the 400 there isn't much out there closer to the ground than it! You can try moving the forks up a bit and getting some new links for the rear suspension but either of those will compromise the handling of the bike.  Best of luck

Thanks for the advice, maybe I'll just stick to the stock sizes and use a taller dogbone, Thanks, Josh,

Are they not the standard sizes?

The 110/70/17 definitely is.

I went to a 120/70 on the front and a 160 on the back.  At least i think it was a 160.  Maybe it was a 150.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmm better look
If you cant join them, beat them...
