Hi!
I've got myself a B4 last week, and it has been a restricted bike (25kW).
The previous owner has removed the four "disks" in the carburettors, but he has done nothing else. Now the bike is coughing a bit when I throttle up. I guess I need to pull the needles up a notch, is this correct? Anything else I need to do?

I should imagine balancing the carbs is all that is required

I've read about balancing of the carbs in the service manual, but I'm not in the possesion of a balancer gauge. Can it be done without this?

I was under the impression that the engine just didn't get enough gas, and that pulling the needles up a notch would solve this.

I've done the same, removed the restrictors and raised the needles because it was running lean. Runs pretty good now.

It looks like two discs sandwiched together with a spacer, but all in one unit. There are also some grooves in one of the disc on the outer side.

and of course, a hole in the middle...

There are one of those in each carb.

I've now adjusted the needles up, und runs much better, but the idle is crap. It runs very uneven and studders. Can anyone help me?

Yes, that's allready been suggested, but I am not in possesion of a balancer gauge. How can it be done without it?

You'll need some kind of manometer. If you can't afford a commercial one (or don't want to pay the funds), make your own.
