B6 1st GEN FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACEMENT
« on: July 28, 2006, 06:18:12 AM »
HELLO I LIVE IN GREECE AND I HAVE MY BANDIT SINCE 1997.

I WANT TO CHANGE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS FROM ORIGINAL TO EBC.

I REMOVED THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS AND I SAW THAT AT THE BACK OF EACH PAD THERE IS A PICE OF WHITE ''PLASTIC'' AND A METALLIC COVER CONTACTING THE PISTONS.

AM I GOING TO USE THESE ITEMS TO MY NEW EBC PADS OR I AM GOING TO INSTALL THEM WITHOUT?

BRGDS

Yes , just put them on your new pads after you clean them up.
Help with break noise.

Hey not only does that plate and pad help with noise! It is there to stop the heat transfer to the caliper. If your Euro bike is the same as US 1g B12's/ they used sintered pads that last for ever! I had 42k on my 98 and they were still only half worn. New calipers of the 3 puck type, steel wrapped hoses, and your good to go!!!   :beers:

I RECEIVED THE FOLL REPLY FROM ebcbrakesdirect.com

I have spoken to EBC's technical department and they have advised that if you are going to use EBC brake pads then do not re-fit the plastic spacer or metallic one, as the EBC pads do not require these. The purpose of the spacer is heat insulation, EBC pads are slightly thicker and do not require these spacers.
